Welcome to Deer Leap: an Edwardian country home with generous accommodation of approx 7130 ft2 (including a 3 bedroom annexe), set in approx 4.77 acres of utterly private grounds. This is an undoubted opportunity to enjoy a wonderful sense of freedom, and space.
A perfect family home, Deer Leap has a heated outdoor swimming pool, a high quality tennis court, and even a natural lake. Whilst enjoying this 'country setting' it is also conveniently close for access to a mainline railway station.
For those seeking 'multi generational' living, there is a 3 bedroom annexe with its own access - although it can equally be used as part of the main home if preferred. It also offers obvious 'work from home' opportunities as well as rental income.
A property of considerable flexibility!
The entrance to the main house undoubtedly impresses. With its galleried landing, and flight of polished timber stairs, it beautifully sets the tone for the remaining accommodation. This is a house for making family memories.
On the ground floor, there is a wonderful DRAWING ROOM, with views over the grounds towards the lake, together with a large SITTING ROOM, STUDY and elegant DINING ROOM for entertaining on a large scale. The KITCHEN at the rear has an oil-fired Aga and the anciliary offices include a UTILITY ROOM where the oil-fired boiler is located, STORE ROOM and LOG STORE. There is also a useful GUEST CLOAKROOM/SHOWER ROOM. Much period detail abounds, and the traditional high ceilings enable light-filled accommodation throughout.
(There is access to the annexe via a rear lobby).
On the first floor, the capacious rooms include SIX BEDROOMS and THREE BATHROOMS. There is also access to the annexe from this floor thus providing considerable options on how the house is used.
On the ground floor there is access to the main house, and also its own private access. The hallway accesses a contemporary fitted KITCHEN/BREAKFAST ROOM and a LIVING ROOM with fireplace. There is also a SHOWER ROOM on this floor.
Stairs rise from the hallway to the first floor where there are THREE BEDROOMS.
A long sweeping driveway, via electrically operated gates, leads up to the entrance. The grounds undoubtedly provide an enchanting setting, with plentiful opportunity for the family to enjoy an idyllic childhood, building dens in the woodland, playing on the lawns, dipping their fishing rod in the lake when not playing either tennis or swimming! It is very much your 'own domain' once the gates close behind you.
A log cabin provides perfect entertainment space located just by the pool. There is also an outbuilding (in need of partial renovation) which provides both storage and garaging, and a further single garage abuts the annexe.
On the outskirts of Moreton, with easy access to a mainline (London/Waterloo) railway and located within practical distance of a shop/post office, and public house. The county town of Dorchester lies approximately 7 miles east with its excellent array of independent shopping, cinemas, restaurants, museums, sport centres and hospital. Golf can be enjoyed at Came Down, Dorchester, or East Dorset club. Sea and water sports along the Jurassic coast; Olympic sailing venue at Weymouth and considerable riding opportunities available in the immediate locality. Also a variety of both private and state schools within the vicinity.
From DOMVS' Dorchester office, head down High West Street (becoming High East Street) and on to London Road. At the traffic lights, turn right onto Kings Road. At the roundabout turn left onto Alington Road, then head straight over the first and second (Max Gate) roundabouts. At the third roundabout take the first exit signposted West Stafford. Follow the signs to Crossways, and at the T junction, turn left onto Station Road which leads to Moreton. The property cannot be seen from the road, but the (discreet) driveway can be found approx half a mile along on the left hand side of this road.
